Last updated: 17 October 2026
These Terms govern your use of Chess Quiz (the "Service"), a live chess puzzle quiz available at chessquiz.net. The Service is operated by Chess Duello Yazılım ve Oyun Teknolojileri A.Ş., KINIKLI MAHALLESİ HÜSEYİN YILMAZ CAD., PAMUKKALE ÜNİVERSİTESİ NO: 67 İÇ KAPI NO: 2, Denizli, Türkiye, tax identification number (TIN) 2091870049 ("we", "us"). Contact: info@chessduello.com. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. Who can use the Service
- Players join a game with a PIN and a nickname; no account is needed.
- Hosts create and run games. Hosts may use the Service anonymously (Free plan) or with an account.
- You must be at least 16 to create an account or buy a subscription (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher). Children under that age may take part as players only when a teacher, parent or other responsible adult organises the game and is responsible for their participation.
- If you use the Service for a school, club or company, you confirm you are authorised to do so on its behalf.
2. Your account
Keep your login details secure and give us accurate information. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You can delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Notice).
3. Plans and player limits
| Plan | Max players per game | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 5 | Free |
| Premium | 15 | 9.99 per month |
| Classroom | 50 | 19.99 per month |
| Organization | 500 | 39.99 per month |
Prices are shown in USD/EUR at checkout; any taxes (VAT/sales tax) are shown before you pay. Free plan hosts who are not signed in do not get saved game history. We may change plan features or limits with reasonable notice; changes to price never apply to a period you have already paid for.
4. Subscriptions, billing and renewal
- Merchant of record. Paid plans are sold and billed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), our merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment, issues invoices and handles taxes. Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms also apply to your purchase. We never see or store your full card details.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions are monthly and renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. You authorise recurring charges to your chosen payment method.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in the billing portal (Plans → manage subscription). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you keep your plan until then. We do not give partial-month refunds for unused time, except where the law or Section 5 says otherwise.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, Paddle may retry it. If it stays unpaid, your account returns to the Free plan.
- Changing plans. Upgrades or downgrades are handled in the billing portal; any proration is calculated and shown by Paddle before you confirm.
- Mobile subscriptions. If we offer subscriptions in a mobile app, they are billed by the app store and its terms and refund rules apply.
5. Refunds and right of withdrawal
Our Refund Policy forms part of these Terms. In summary: Our full Refund Policy is a separate page and forms part of these Terms.
If you are a consumer in the EU, UK or Türkiye you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days. We also offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment for any plan, wherever you live. To request a refund, contact us or Paddle (paddle.com/help). Refunds are returned to the original payment method.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use offensive, hateful, sexual or personal-data nicknames; harass others; cheat by using chess engines or help in games where fair play is expected (hosts decide their own rules); attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service; scrape the Service or copy its software; resell access; run bots against live games; or use the Service for anything unlawful. Hosts are responsible for the conduct of the players they invite and for supervising minors. We may remove players or games and suspend accounts that break these rules.
7. Content and intellectual property
The Service, its design and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service according to these Terms. Nicknames and other content you submit remain yours, but you give us a licence to host and display them to other participants in the game as needed to run it.
8. Availability
Live games run in the memory of our game server. A server restart or maintenance can end running games, and results of an unfinished game may not be saved. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Cancelling or termination does not affect rights that arose earlier.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or 50 EUR if you paid nothing). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or mandatory consumer rights.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give notice (for example by email or in the app) at least 14 days in advance where possible. If you keep using the Service after the effective date you accept the new Terms; if you do not, you can cancel before then.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye. Courts of Denizli, Türkiye have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights or the right of consumers to apply to consumer arbitration committees / courts in their country of residence. EU consumers may also use the EU online dispute resolution platform where available.
